Hottest Pepper

On June 4 2011, the Guinness Book Of World Records updated and acknowledged the Trinidad Scorpion “Butch T” as the hottest pepper in the world.

A laboratory test done in March of 2011 measured a specimen of Trinidad Scorpion “Butch T” at 1,463,700 Scoville units, officially becoming it the hottest pepper in the world.  The heat of a chili pepper can vary by up to a factor of 10+, depending on the conditions the specimen grew in…including temperature, moisture and fertilizer.
